Scammers are Calling – Decline the Call

Unfortunately, here at Truvista Fiber, we get pretty regular reports of scammers targeting our customers. We see fraud attempts through calls, texts, and emails that look real. It looks very close to real.

According to US Telecom: The Broadband Associationanyone can fall victim to a scam. But the financial losses for adults over 70 years old are often much higher.

Protect Yourself

  • Register your number at donotcall.gov.
  • Don’t give out personal information to people who call or text you. Never share passwords or verification codes.
  • Don’t answer numbers you don’t know. If it’s important, they can leave you a message.
  • Be aware of common scams.

Common Scams

  • “Urgent” Account Issues - Messages claiming your service will be shut off unless you act immediately. We don’t do business
  • Fake Verification Requests - You receive a code you didn’t request and then a call asking you to share it. Don’t. That code is the key to your account.
  • Payment Demands in Unusual Forms - Requests to pay your bill using gift cards, prepaid debit cards, cryptocurrency, or wire transfers are a major red flag. Legitimate telecom and utility companies do NOT request payment this way.
  • Too-Good-To-Be-True Offers - Deep discounts, free upgrades, or prize winnings that require a “small fee” or personal details.
  • Spoofed Numbers - Scammers can make calls and texts appear to come from legitimate numbers… even ours.

When in doubt… HANG UP. You can always call Truvista Fiber directly using our official phone number: 800-768-1212
