Stay Safe Online with Truvista Fiber

In an increasingly connected world, students learning online, seniors keeping in touch with family, and parents helping kids grow up in digital world, more connectivity also means more opportunities for scams, cyberbullying, and privacy risks.

At Truvista Fiber, we’re proud to provide local, in-person internet safety training for students, seniors, and caregivers so everyone can enjoy the internet confidently and safely.

“The Internet Safety Curriculum provided our educators and families with practical tools and strategies to help students become responsible digital citizens,” said Dr. Tracie Swilley, Assistant Superintendent Fairfield County School District in South Carolina. “It opened the door for ongoing dialogue about online safety and empowered our community to take proactive steps in protecting our children.”

The interactive training gives tips and tricks for internet use and how caregivers can monitor and protect their family.

Parents & Caregivers

  • Protect devices with strong passcodes, automatic updates, and parental controls
  • Set screen-time limits and “no phones at night” rules
  • Talk openly about online risks and protect photos and personal info
  • Watch for red flags like sudden secrecy, new friends or gift-card demands

Students

  • Don’t post personal info or school routines
  • Lock accounts with private settings and two-factor authentication
  • Screenshot bullying or threats and tell a trusted adult
  • Kindness counts. If you wouldn’t say it in person, don’t post it

Seniors & Care Partners

  • Verify before acting. Hang up, look up legitimate numbers and call back
  • Don’t rush! Real agencies never demand gift cards or crypto over the phone or social media within moments.
  • Be wary of allowing remote access to your computer
